Aesthetic Dermatology is a booming area
of dermatology.
Recognizing this specialty and know-how
is therefore important. To this day, it lacks
university recognition and basic training
given to medical interns needs to be
improved in the European Union.
Research areas are numerous: æsthetic
and corrective dermatology requires
additional scientific work to enhance the
standing of this specialty.
Moreover, the status of æsthetic
dermatology treatments is unclear and often
considered as either a cosmetic, a drug or a
medical device.
In order to establish a more medical, if
not surgical, approach of æsthetic
dermatology, Pierre Fabre Laboratories have
decided to organize this Entretiens du Carla
which wish to contribute to a better
understanding of this area.
Presentations will therefore cover among
others:
- State of the art.
- Definition of the discipline and its limitations
based, among others, on guideline projects by
the European Commission.
- Identification of the target: contribution to
pre- and post-operative treatments.
- Role of prevention and specific tools.
- Role of medical, paramedical and
pharmaceutical professionals.
- Training and information.
With the intention of perpetuating
research and innovation, this consensus
and exchange meeting, of high scientific
level, gather experts with the aim of
drawing up recommendations and
guidelines thanks to the contribution of
distinguished specialists.
Conclusions of these consensus
meetings have to be widely distributed to
researchers and health professionals and
to regulatory authorities and concerned
institutions as learned societies.
